Broadband Development Initiative
Broadband and related computing and information technologies are recognized as being critically important to economic development in the region served by the Southern Tier West Regional Planning & Development Board.

In regard to these technologies and services, prominent members of the region's academic, healthcare, government, and business communities have emphasized a need for broader availability, enhanced quality, greater redundancy, and competitive pricing.

To provide for an effective means to address all regional issues and sustain progress on this topic both in the short and long-term; the Southern Tier West Board, within its scope of operations, established a Broadband and Technology Institute. The Institute's purpose is to research, plan for, adequately finance, and administer diverse and complimentary portfolio of regional broadband and related computing and information technology advancement programs.
