GIS & GPS Training
GIS Training
The utilization of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) continues to grow within municipalities as a tool for economic development, infrastructure management, planning, assessment, code enforcement, and public safety. Southern Tier West hosts and co-sponsors a variety of GIS training sessions ranging from hands-on usage to planning and implementation. Training can be tailored to fit a wide variety of groups with varying skill levels.

GPS Training
To maintain their GIS data and infrastructure, municipal officials are now finding that being trained in GPS data collection can save time and dollars. Traditionally, Southern Tier West has offered GPS Data Collection Training through the Community GIS Program. Southern Tier West hosts one-day training sessions on using GPS data collection units for Community GIS members at no additional cost. These training sessions are held once a year, or as demand sees fit. Municipalities will often take advantage of these training sessions as a refresher on GPS operation as well.
